SNAP Students Pass the Rigorous TaeKwon-Do Test!
Pictured l-r: back row- Joey Morales, Jean Carlo Pineda, Jason de Los Santos. Front row: Dylan Bonnet, Katie Morales, Charlie Rosenthal, Will Delarge, Ashish Praskash On April 16th our SNAP- Morristown TaeKwon-do (TKD) group had the semiannual test to certify their advancement in attaining mastery of skills. The test was conducted by Jason de los Santos, Director of all Youth programs and Jean Carlo Pineda, class instructor. The test is a rigorous demonstration of specific verbal commands given in Korean that cover everything from standing at attention to the fighting position. The students must also demonstrate mastery of specific kicks and punches to pass the test. And they must be able to meditate. Under the formal instruction of Mr. Jean Carlo all students passed with most exceeding the standard for mastering these skills and where rewarded by the attainment of an additional stripe and or belt. The class was formed approximately a year ago with most of the students staying with it and we have added a few more since the new year. TaeKwon-do while a martial art is much more than that. It requires that you show respect to all others. That you value your fellow students for who they are. In the skills front- students must be able to listen effectively, follow detailed directions and work on coordination such as balance skills. The program is a lifelong sport and one that has had a significant impact on our students. Many in our class have demonstrated the skills and ability to move to the regular classes. Ultimately that is our goal with any and all of our SNAP programs. Congratulation to all the students for outstanding performance!
